For those of you that have never heard of this event, the Green Race is an extreme kayak race and is held just south of Asheville, NC in a little town called Saluda.

This race is held on a section of river called the Green River Narrows located in the Green River Game Lands.
What makes this event so special is that it’s access is so limited, every year over 1,600 spectators make the grueling hike in to the gorge to watch one of the greatest events in all of sports.

The race course is a 7/10th of a mile section of river that drops over 260′ in gradient.
The mainstage of the race is a rapid called Gorilla which has a 19′ waterfall immediately following a sharp left hand turn through a narrow slot.
This is a must do event if you love the outdoors and want to see some amazing athletes.
Platea Creative worked with the media crew and shot the event at a rapid called Go Left, the whole team did a phenomenal job!
Our 7 person crew had just 3 hours to turn around a 13 minute highlight reel for the awards ceremony.

Congratulations to all the racers and volunteers who make this event a huge success every year!
